FRANKLIN HIGH SCHOOL PCC NEWSLETTER
On behalf of the FHS PCC Board Members, welcome to the 2017-18 school year. This is sure to be an exciting year and we would like to let you know a little about what we do and encourage you to get involved and participate in your child’s school experience.

Last year, the PCC invited the department heads from English, Math, Foreign Language, History and Science to update parents on the curriculum at our PCC meetings. In the spring, adjustment counsellors and our school resource officer spoke to parents about social-emotional and substance abuse issues impacting FHS students. In October, we invited Jon Mattleman to talk to parents about “The Secret Life of the MA teenager”. We provided snacks for the teachers’ first Wednesday meeting of the school year and provided the teachers and staff with a week-long appreciation in April. We helped with Picture Day in September, collected 65 pounds of food donations for the food pantry in May, collected and donated Box Tops to the Mather School in Boston and encouraged families to sign up for Stop and Shop rewards,
which benefits FHS students. We coordinated the first Career Day for juniors, with FHS parent presenters. In May, we provided refreshments at Senior Awards Night. These events were so successful thanks to the help and support of so many FHS parents!
Did you know, a member of the Board meets monthly with other representatives of the various PCCs in Franklin and the superintendent, to share information about the schools and receive updates about the FPS district?

The PCC meets 5x per school year. These meetings are truly a communication tool for parents to hear about important topics regarding the school and to ask questions and get answers that their teenager may not be able to give them. FHS PCC meetings provide an open forum for discussion about the issues faced in the high school. The topic for our September 18th meeting is listed above and you should expect to receive an update on the upcoming meeting topics prior to the meeting dates. Principal Paul Peri is present at every meeting to provide updates and answer any questions you have.
This year, families are invited to make a direct donation to the FHS PCC. These funds will be spent on activities that benefit students and teachers, such as: Teacher/Staff Appreciations, refreshments at Senior Awards Night and Senior Breakfast and FEF grant donations, to name a few important activities. Checks should be made out to the FHS PCC and sent in to the main office with your student, in an envelope labeled FHS PCC, or mailed to FHS PCC c/o 41 Pine Street Franklin MA 02038. Please note that donations are not tax deductible, as we are not a 501c3 at this time.

Please consider becoming involved in the many activities that the PCC supports. With many hands, we can accomplish almost anything. The FHS PCC wanted to let you know of THREE ways you can support the students and teachers at FHS through some fundraising opportunities we are coordinating. All monies raised go to events and enrichment for students and teachers! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT
1. We are now a 501c3, so if you wish to make a direct donation, in any amount, it is tax exempt. Consider making a donation before the end of the year! Make checks payable to FHS-PCC.
2. Attend our community dinner night at 5 Guys in Franklin—on THURSDAY NOVEMBER 3O FROM 5-10 PM. We will earn 15% of purchases.
3. Register your Stop and Shop card – Stop and Shop A+ Rewards Points Visit www.stopandshop.com/aplus and select register your card, located in the red box on the right. Follow the prompts to complete the registration. FHS ID # is 06140 We will earn points for purchases made between October 6 2017 and March 15 2018. If you have already designated FHS- you do not need to re-register your card. If you wish to add FHS or change a previous school you had registered- please do! You can designate up to 2 schools per card! Any
